Dream One: A Dream of Escape

Dream One: A Dream of Escape

The Dream:
I had a dream where I was inside a man’s house, but my attention was drawn to the basement. When I went down, or appeared there, it didn’t feel like a regular basement; it felt like I was underground, like what under a city would look like, like a tunnel.

I immediately began to feel trapped or stuck there. I remember the man motioning to the right side of the underground tunnel; it was like he was showing me everything he had done. I still felt a sense of being stuck, wanting to leave, not wanting to be there any longer.

When I looked to the right, I saw rows of stone displays, each one different, having its own meaning. To the left, murky sewer water ran alongside them; both sides stretched for miles.  I had made up my mind that I wasn't going to stay there any longer, so I turned around to find the way out. At the top of the stairs was a large wooden flap, like a pet door but bigger, with light shining faintly through one side. I wanted to leave, and I believe that the man could sense that I wanted to leave, as if he could feel it too; he tried to stop me, holding something in his hand, controlling the flap. He motioned as if he was attempting to stop me from leaving, but he didn’t put much effort into forcing me to stay. but I still forced my way out, only to be met by a woman at the top of the stairs who positioned herself as one who was ready for a fight. Then she began to attack me. I fought back nothing seemed to work until I struck her with a white pole, and she fell backward, making painful noises. That was when I woke up.

Reflection:
When I woke up, the first thought that came to me was that the man could represent my husband, and the woman could represent myself. I don’t know if that’s the full meaning (because of certain circumstances, I feel it could have been), and I’m not trying to force an interpretation, but it struck me immediately. What stood out was the feeling of being trapped underground and struggling to get free—only to face another challenge immediately after. Sometimes in life, even when we push past darkness or limiting situations, resistance waits for us on the other side. This dream reminded me that freedom often comes with struggle, and even when I don’t understand everything, I can still ask God to shine His light on the hidden places of my life.

Scripture Connection:
No specific scripture came to mind for this dream, but the themes of struggle, freedom, and guidance remind me of the Lord’s presence in every challenge.

Broader Reflection / Teaching:
This dream showed me that sometimes we must fight through what feels like restriction or opposition to reach the freedom God has prepared for us. Even when obstacles appear, we can rely on His strength to guide us through. Dreams like this are a reminder that life’s battles are not always about the people we see, but about the spiritual growth and perseverance God is shaping within us.
